I bough a house a couple months ago. And from the get go we were having gurgling in the main floor bathtub when the toilet was flushed. My girlfriend had a shower and flushed the toilet in the main floor bath and it caused a back up. We have been not usingthat bathroom in the meantime.

Last night she was having a bath in the basement. And when she drained it. Water came out the drain in the main floor bathroom about 2 inches. And then went back down. My sump pump also turned on at the same time. I don't know if that was coincidence since it was raining. But it was at the same time the water drained to upstairs. When it drained out of the toilet upstairs it gurgled a lot

I have since flushed the toilet downstairs a few times with no issues.

What the heck is going on!

Your drain is restricted, gurgling also says your vent is not open. You may need a plumber with proper equipment to figure this out. Sump pumps can be connected to the outside to drain water at your foundation or they can be connected to the sewer if they collect floor drain water. A plumber may be able to get this all straight

I agree with Ballengerb... The sewer ejector runs sewage up to the main floor level and into main sewer pipe. That sewer pipe is blocked. What happens is that Sewer Ejector pumps sewage under pressure upward, sewage hits blockage and starts backing up to the nearest plumbing fixture drain opening, which is your tub on the main floor. Sewage appears in bath tub. As said above, call plumber, he will locate the blockage and clean it.
