I've been told to install dialectric protection on a glycol filled heating system 180 to 185 degrees. I've been told before #1 gasket is not rated for the temperature, and #2 galvanized metel is not permitted on heating systems.Does anyone have any science or standards to back up any of the above?

Dielectric protection is used for dissimilar metals. If you have straight steel piping and couplings, you do not need them. Galvanic corrosion occurs where two different metals are exposed to an acidic solution. This combination effectively forms a battery and causes a flow of electrical current between the two metals. Galvanized is not usually recommended for glycols.
