I have a Whirlpool Model # LBR4132 J01

The spin cycle seems very slow. The clothes come out very wet since it does not spin up t speed. I checked all drain lines from the tub to pump and from pump to drain. I even pulled the pump and inspected it. Seems fine. Next I did as suggested and filled the tub and watched it drain. It does start spinning at the same time it's pumping the water out. However, it does drain COMPLETELY.But the spin cycle seems to be to slow to wring the water out of the load. I was wondering if it's a 2 speed motor or a problem with the transmission. I noticed that there is a loud clunk sound when it starts into spin. Louder than I think would be normal.
I'm wondering if it's worth it to remove the transmission and overhaul the clutches or brakes, or replace the transmission. Is it cost efficient to repair. Or better to replace the washer?

Anytime you get into clutches or transmissions, it is better to just get a new one. Even with repair, it is an old washer. However, does this use a direct drive coupler? They can be found for $10 and are easy DIY job.

I'm sure it's direct drive ( no belts ) But can that coupler wear and slow the spin cycle and also cause the tub to spin as the water drains? I also read about clutches and brake pads. Can the problem be with either of them?

Usually the coupler fails and nothing works. Yes, clutches and brakes can wear out. How old is the washer?

I don't have a clue how old it is. It belongs to my roommate and she got it second hand. It is a cheaper model based on what little controls it has.
I appreciate your efforts to help. Thank you.

Check the spin dryer by hand whether it is mechanically jam if not replace its capacitor.
