I have an old Gottlieb pinball machine that is stuck in tilt mode right now and I don't know how to get it out of the position/function. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Don't know anything about your pinball machine. Is it a commercial type, one where you have to put money in? If so the tilt mech. Is just inside the coin box and usually it has a counter weight that hangs and just moves side to side until you move the machine enough for the counter weight rod to hit the tilt circuit. Maybe you caused it to tilt and become lodged permanently by moving it. Just my guess without more info.

Yes its commercial grade with coin slot. The tilt is in the coin box itself or mounted by it ?

The tilt mechanism is like a pendulum. It is not inside the coin box, but mounted on the side of the machine.

Here is a representative picture:

Hope this helps,

Yes that helps, I see that piece inside and the weight isn't even connected. Is it supposed to set off the tilt function when that rod hits the side the bracket ?

Exactly. It functions as a simple switch. You can adjust the sensitivity by moving the weight up and down (to get closer/further from the hole).

I'd trace the wires from that switch back to the main control and disconnect it there at least as a test.

Good luck,
