Hi everybody,
I know that there are some articles dealing with this question, however, I could not find the correct and definite answer to my question, yet.
Me and my wife just moved to New York for a 3 year postdoc. At the institution where we will work, the tax specialist told us that we do not have to pay any income taxes for the first two years of our stay. Neither in the US nor in germany. I tried to find out more about this on the web but could not find a final answer. It seems to me that we really do not have to pay taxes in the US, however, if we have to pay taxes in germany (which might be higher), what is the advantage for us?
Looking forward to your comments!
Cheers,
Stefan
