Hi Ive been reading everyone's efforts with installing this but I just have a red, white and black wire out of my wall. Right now we just touch the white and black wires together to turn the furnace on... can someone please tell me which color goes in the R, W and Y?

That's a heat only stat. You will use only two wires. I would land the Red wire on R and the White wire on W. Tape black off. If that doesn't work someone has switched the wires in furnace. Let me know what happens.
