I visit with people all over the world on the net, have many friends in other countries, work in a computer store here, had 4 years in college taking computer courses and have met maybe 1 percent of those people using Linux, so in my opinion and experience, it's not, less say as widely used as Windows.

You make a list of the Computer users you know, how many use Linux, everyone else do the same, what is the percentages.

In the business world Linux is very widely used for servers etc. Most web servers are also on Linux boxes I think. As for home use, Windows does win hands down. But if there was some way of getting my favourite games onto Linux, I would switch at the drop of a hat.

As for the question in hand, check the manufactorer's page for drivers. Some manufactorers do provide Linux drivers etc.

What you do is ask on one of the linux (http://www.justlinux.com) communities (http://linuxquestions.org) that (http://www.linux.org) supposedly don't (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=askmehelpdesk.com) exist (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=www.nasa.gov).


Oh, and by the way, I hope no one here is using one of the new Linksys "blue box" router/switches, because, guess what, they are powered by nonexistant software (http://www.linksys.com/support/gpl.asp)...


And there are many people, including myself, who happily run linux on their desktops. And yes, Unreal Tournament runs just fine.
