I cannot get benefits as my wife has a pention,I get dla as I had a stroke 9 years ago,my wife is taxed on her pention,can she claim for me as her dependent.

I assume DLA is some sort of disability payment which in itself if NOT subject to income taxes.

It would be better for you and your wife to file a JOINT return (which, by definition, is ONE tax return filed by TWO people). You would NOT be her dependent; you would be her co-filer.

This is MORE beneficial because your combined income (her pension only since your disability is NOT taxable) is taxed at a lower tax rate, you both each get to claim your personal exemption, and your joint standard deduction is TWICE what she would get if she filed Married Filing Separately.

BOTTOM LINE: File a joint return.
