I was taking the birth control Gildess 1/20 and I never missed a pill and took them all on time. Started taking it end of June. After month 1 I had a regular period when I was supposed to. During the 2nd month I had sex on August 14 and he pulled out way before anything could come out. I have not had sex since this day. Then at the end of the 2nd month on the exact day my period August (29-30th of each month) starts I had a very dark brown/black period and it had clots that were normal period blood looking and when I wiped it was normal period blood but on the pad it looked very dark and thicker than normal period blood. It was enough for me to have to use pads so I'm pretty sure it was my period. The third month which is September I took the first four days of my third pack then decided I didn't want to continue taking them and made an appointment to switch brands with my gyno. Keep in mind I haven't had sex since August 14 then had the "weird" period explained above on the 28 th of August. I didn't have any bleeding this month (September) but my breast are tender on the outside not the nipple. My gyno said this was normal to not have a period after discontinuing use and the type of period I had the 2nd month was also normal. I have been pretty stressed here lately so that may be why but I know I'm not pregnant but why would I still have not gotten my period?

Hormonal birth control can alter your cycles; considerably for some women. As your doctor mentioned, it wouldn't be unusual for your cycle to be off when you first stop using them. Some women remain regular from the start, others find it may take a cycle or two to get back on track. Usually, with the Gildess, and the short time that you used it, it shouldn't be a prolonged time to wait. See what happens for October.
