Can anyone help? I have a Whirlpool dryer and it stops spinning but the timer keeps running. If you press the start button again, it will start back up. Any suggestions?

Model# LER4634EQ2 approx 7 years old.

Thanks!

Right after it stops, can you restart it immediately or do you have to wait 30 or more before it starts up again?
If you have to wait to restart it then it's a motor over-heating problem.
If you can restart it right away, one possibility is that your door latch lets the door flex open enough to activate the door switch.

It will restart automatically. Sometimes it will run 20-30 minutes. Sometimes it will run 2-3 minutes. Is there anyway to adjust the door switch? Now that you say that, It does seem to sound like that could be the culprit! Thanks!

If the door switch gets interrupted, it will NOT restart automatically, you have to push the start button again. It's a safety feature in case a child climbs in, they don't want it to restart without pushing the start button.
There is no adjustment on either the plastic door latch or the door switch. One way to find out if the switch or latch are the culprit, while it's running, pull slightly on the door handle without actually opening the door and see if the dryer stops.

It restarts with a touch of the start button... not automatically. I meant you don't have to wait on a cool down. I will try that tomorrow and let you know. Thanks again!

OK, then it may have something to do with the switch we're talking about!
Good Luck!
