Gsd 4 mo. Old still mouthing and play biting. Very painful. Can someone help with a quick method to stop this behavior? I've tried toys and other things to change the attention to some other activity, but only works for the moment. It almost seems that she knows what she's doing and that she shouldn't be doing it. Help, please.

Help. My girl is making puncture wounds and bite marks that are very painful. I look like I've been in a war zone. I have tried the toys and redirectingher attention to something else . The results are short lived. Any advice welcome! Thanks, macee's mom.

She's 4 months old. She still has her baby teeth, and mouthing feels good. Not to mention that this is how puppies play. They have to be taught that humans don't like it.

When she starts mouthing a firm "No!" and then walk away. Ignore her completely. She'll soon learn that if she wants your attention, she can't mouth. A yike helps too. Make a sound like a dog when it's hurt "YIKE!" very loudly, then walk away. Don't even look at her after you've yiked.

It will take time. Remember that a large part of this is because of her age. But it's never too early to start teaching, and for her to start learning.

Good luck. I'd love to see pictures of the little one. :)
