I have a place up north with well water/pump. I drained the faucets and turned off the pump before leaving. However, I did NOT turn off the switch on the hot water tank! AM I IN TROUBLE?? HIGH PRIORITY... HELP!

Lisa, that depends. It sounds like you simply drained the pressure off the system and then turned the pump off, so your water heater should still be full of water. If that's the case, then you are OK. HOWEVER, there are plumbers on this site who are far better qualified to address this, so I'd wait for them to answer before closing the door on this. But unless you drained the water heater, and I can't imagine that you did, then you should be OK.

I can ease your concerns about the hot water tank. If you did not drain the tank than the water will stay hot. However, if you think that you have winterized your cabin you are mistaken. I take it that things freeze up there. The is water left in the traps and toilet. If you did not drain them and the water lines you had better be some heat on in the cabin. Do you need instructions on how to weatherize your unit? Let me know, Tom
