Kenmore Model 110.87872100, drum will rotate when it is empty, when clothes are in it it will not. Drum can be turned by hand. I am assuming that I need to replace the belt and tensioner. How do I get the top off to get this done?

Pyromsatc-
You've done a great job diagnosing & isolating the problem.
Go to
Welcome to the Parts Store (http://www3.sears.com/)
Enter your model number & it will allow you to look exploded parts diagram
These diagrams (the cabinet one is probably the best one for your use) are not repair manuals but they will probably give you enough information so you can proceed.
On my older Kenmore dryer I was able to replace the belt & reposition the tensioner by just removing the lower "kick" panel.
I'm a very experienced DIY'r (& mechanical engineer) I have been doing this type of repair for over 40 years.
After I repaired this particular dryer I actually broke down & bought a generic repair manual... it was helpful but not vital.
It says it is for gas & electric Kenmore & Whirlpool units.

If you're handy this will be an easy repair.
