View Full Version : Chain saw hard to pull starter rope with out plug rope pulls easy

I have a husqvarna chain saw,the starter rope is very hard to pull to try to start so I took out the spark plug and pulled and is very easy to pull what could the proble please?

Without the plug there is no compression. If it pulls easily without the plug and hard with the plug in, you have high compression.

Hi,
With the ignition off, did you pull it "sharply" and have mix shoot out through the plug hole (without plug in it)? The most common problem is liquid in the cylinder, which does not compress as a gas would; it could even hydraulically lock. Another could be a sheared key. Still another is a more major mechanical failure.
It gets a bit tricky with two-strokes, but the most common is liquid in the cylinder.
