My kitchen sick won't drain, when garbage disposal is turned on water comes up both sides. Removed trap and cleaned, snaked 20 feet. Had septic pumped.and put on a new breather, still won't drain... Any suggestions

Hi BB

Sometimes the drain cable will go UP the vent instead of down the drain... check to be sure that you didn't go up the vent. If needed, they sell a DROP HEAD snake head that forces the cable to go down instead of up... you can also bend the end of the cable a bit and see if that helps to force the cable down the drain.

Otherwise, if you don't think that is the issue I would tell you to take a few minutes and chase the kitchen sink drain pipe over to the nearest large pipe or bathroom group. Here, in most cases, the kitchen sink drain will be routed to the nearest large pipe. If you determine the approximate distance and then send the cable out to that distance and no more you can be sure you are not wasting time putting out 20 feet of cable if the nearest bathroom is only say 10 feet away, right? If the nearest bathroom group or large drain pipe is 30 feet away, well then, you didn't go far enough and need to put out more cable.

Finally, once you know the approximate distance you need to go and you can prejudice the idea of the cable going down the drain and not up the vent you can get a little more aggressive with the cable and go in and out a NUMBER of times... sometimes you need to go in/out, back/forth into that drain 5-10 times before you can finally clear the blockage.

Try all this and post back as needed, OK?
