I replaced my hot water faucet gasket/seal and thought I reassembled it right but now I can not turn off the water at the faucet. Did I install wrong seal or reassembled the faucet wrongs. - Jack
PS: I'm blond so I'm mechanically challenged... better type slowly!

Is this a kitchen, bath room sink or shower faucet?

Please tell us the brand and the model number of your faucet, or if you can post a picture, Thanks.

now I can not turn off the water at the faucet. Please explain. Does the handle turn and nothing happens? Does the water still come out,(drip or stream?) when you turn the faucet off? Give us something to work with here, Back to you, Tom

In my case it is an American Standard shower faucet, hit water, replaces seat and valve stem. It now seems to turn as expected, BUT now the water will not shut off completely. What step did I miss? EMERGENCY!

When you replaced the seat you might have cross threaded it, That would give you the problem you now have. Pull the seat and reinstall. Good luck, Tom
