I have a PVC pipe that I need to attach to the metal threads found on the Delta rough (shower unit). Not sure how I go about attaching. I read on 2 sites that you cannot attach a PVC pipe female end to a metal threaded male end. Unable to find any info on how to tackle this problem. Thank you for your help.

Use a threaded female adapter. Screw adapter onto male threads then glue pipe.

Can you provide links to that misinformation.

With very hot water, PVC expands a bit more than other materials and can lose thread contact. With cold water no issue. Is all the hot water plumbed with PVC?

Sorry should have said use a CPVC adapter. Of course all hot water piping should be CPVC

I agree with Harold. CPVC should handle the job just fine. Good luck, Tom

Never Male Metal Thread into Plastic Female fitting.
In your case, I would install 1/2 MIP brass coupling on the body of the faucet first, then screwed in 1/2" Male CPVC fitting.
Or, if you want it to be removable, install 1/2" brass unions, one on each connection.
Good luck with your project !

I have repaired hundreds of leaking pipe connections that resulted from a cracked, plastic female adapter.. The link that Afaroo provided has accurate, and correct information explaining why plastic female adapters are not an ideal connector. When circumstances require the use of a plastic female adapter, I always tighten a stainless steel clamp on the adapter before assembly...
