I have had almost daily spotting, generally light pink to red, for the past 3 months. Historically, I had CIN1 three years ago, followed by a normal pap last year, and an abnormal pap 3 months ago. The abnormal pap result was ASCUS with negative result for high-risk HPV. I have had two monogamous relationships since my last round of STD testing for chlamydia, gonohrrea, syphilis, & HIV. I also took a free HIV testing opportunity about 4 months after my current partner & I got together. My doctor said that herpes tests often come back positive because they aren't type specific, and since I had cold sores often in childhood, she said a herpes test wasn't necessary, as I didn't exhibit any other symptoms and could recognize the sensation herpes causes, but would likely test positive because of the cold sores.

Our family has a history of endometriosis, so that could be it, but symptoms seem off. I would be surprised if my current partner gave me any STD's because we have been monogamous for a year. I think most STD symptoms would've appeared before now... but I don't know, which is why I'm asking a doctor.

I have an appt with an OBgyn next week, but I can hardly relax for fear of what might be wrong.

Any ideas?

It could be anything from a hormonal imbalance to a STD or worse. Can't really put your mind at east because we don't know what is happening. Waiting for your doctor would be best. Sorry.
