What size us the dehumidifier drain line and how does it connect to the unit? Back to you, Tom

I have seen this done with a 3/4 " adapter in a sanitary "Y" and a running trap. It may not be legal in your area but you see similar installs for AC condensate.

Hope the poster comes back so we can hear more. That condensate is a pump while the dehumidifier is a static drain, one which must be below the dehumidifiers tank.

In both of my houses the AC condensate is static flow, no lift pump.

Are we talking about a dehumidifier drain or a AC condensate drain? Let me know, TRom

Hi Mike

You would need to connect "indirectly" to a PTRAP that is properly vented for this to be an acceptable installation. Here, without adding a proper vent (either atmospheric or mechanical) you will find that sewer gasses can burp into the home every time the waste from the tub and/or toilet rushes past the dehumidifier connection to the main drain and that is against plumbing code and is unhealthy for you and your family.

If possible, I would suggest adding a branch drain off the properly trapped and vented washing machine stand pipe (if your dehumidifier can be hung up on a shelf that high) and stay away from cutting into the main drain... they sell little pumps (condensate pumps or similar) if you need to pump the water from the dehumidifier up and into the washer drain/standpipe.

If you return and answer some of the questions above AND decide which way you need/want to go, just let us know and we can talk you through the basics of setting/piping all this up!

Just my thoughts all... :)

Mark
