Our family has an old picture of outdoors. It is signed T Moran '96 in the bottom right hand corner. The paper on the back of the painting is very old and brittle. My brother carefully cut the paper off the back and cleaned the glass inside and out. There was a stamp on the paper with Borin Art, Chicago, Ill printed on it. I took a picture of the painting and took it to the library to compare it to the Thomas Moran paintings that I saw on a website. I saw a painting that was painted in 1895 that looked similar, but it wasn't the actual painting that we have. Are there Moran paintings that could not be on the website? Ours has been in our attic for many years. However, I would think there should be some record of it since it has the Borin stamp on it. We are trying to determine the value of the painting, as we would be interested in auctioning or selling it. Could you please give us some directions as to where to start with this venture? We would appreciate your assistance with this.
