My daughter died 7 years ago and my grand daughter wants her ashes, but her auntie is holding onto them! My ex husband signed for them and collected them. Can my grand daughter have her Mums ashes regardless or will she still have a fight on her hands?

She doesn't even have a fight. First of all, this was 7 years ago, and second, your ex got them. That usually means that it was either ordered by the probate judge or he was the one who paid for the cremation and urn, or both. You could have tried to get half, but I presume that you were out of her life by then?

This is all now a matter of relatives trying to get along and asking each other nicely for a share. (My siblings and I divided up each parent's ashes.)

I'm in the US. If you are in say England, the law might be different regarding ashes, but I doubt it.
