I tend to get a lot of error messages when I close Internet Explorer. Usually this message says Runtime Error 217 and a bunch of weird combination behind it such as 023cfd2d. What does all of this mean? How is it to be interpreted and how can I stop this issue since it keeps recurring?

Runtime Error 217 can be caused by a couple of different things. It might be that a virus was installed along with the new program you installed. It could also be that your computer’s registry is too cluttered and therefore didn’t allow the program to be installed properly. If this is the case, the computer and the program will battle back and forth to provide information for one another.
Fixing Runtime Error 217
A quick anti-virus scan is never a bad idea when any Runtime Error occurs and Runtime Error 217 is no acceptation. However, if that doesn’t work you can try the following to elevate the problem:
Steps:
Click Start Button.
Click Control Panel.
Select Internet Options.
Select Programs, then Manage Add Ons.
Locate Norton Confidential Browser Helper in list being used by Internet Explorer.
Click Disable.
Click OK to confirm.
Restart your computer allowing changes to take hold.
