I drank a l.5 bottle of white wine on Saturday and am pretty sure I will be tested on Wed around 7pm. I am a 200lb woman, 5'9" and do not work out other then a lot of walking. I am very nervous about this and would appryeciate any help you can give me. Thank you very much.

I have been drinking tons of water, and green tea over the last 3 days.

You will be over 80 hours from your last drink. You will be clear of ETG by then. You will test negative.

But you might fail for dilution since you have been drinking lots of water... and a fail is a fail. Because it's the most common way people try to cheat on a test. THey know it and they look for it.

I asked a question earlier about EtG testing and appreciate the responses. I must ask one more thing if you will bear with me. I am freaking out because I don't understand the whole bac part of this and I am afraid I did not leave ample time before the 7pm EtG test. I quit with the wine around midnight Saturday and tested Wed at 7pm. I peed pretty clear so that concerns me also but I really could use some conversation about this. Please no judging, I know it was stupid and I regret it but I have nooone to talk to about this and I am petrified. Thank you so much.

When you drink you have to process the alcohol. When you have more alcohol in your system than you can immediately process it stays in the blood stream. The more alcohol you have the more drunk you will feel. Surprisingly enough there is alcohol in a lot of fruits and other food stuffs, but the actual amount is minuscule compared to a glass of wine. You well know, from Mr. Hangover, that alcohol is metabolised quite quickly. That is why a breatalizer and straight alcohol test can be negative hours after you drink. When testing for alcohol use they couldn't use that so, through analysis of the alcohol process system, they found a by product that is stable and eliminated from your system at a know rate. This the ETG. Even though the alcohol is gone from your system that metabolite is still there for a relatively know about of time.

There has been a lot of discussion about how accurate and how regular the metabolism and elimination rates of ETG are and thus how accurate the test is. It is continuously improved to be more accurate and to detect guilt factors. The primary guilt factor is dilution. If you drink a lot than you will pee a lot and the ETG will be diluted and give you a lower reading however 'normal' levels of other chemicals in your urine are known. If they're out of whack than you will fail the test. The failure is more of a logical one than anything. If you weren't guilty than why would you be diluting your urine?

The last item of conversation here is why this test is used. There are two broad instances in which this test is used. The first is for employment. If your job requires sobriety than they'll test and figure out if you can be trust to be sober. For example, a oil rig worker. Bad things can happen if they're not sober. The second broad instance is court mandated sobriety as a condition of release, parole, or probation. If you got a DUI, or abuse, or any one of another charge that you are now on probabtion over than chances are that part of the probation agreement is sobriety. If you can't drink or are being treated for a drinking than you probably won't re-offend.

In both of those cases you KNOW that you're not supposed to drink, but aren't trusted to not drink so are subjected to random tests. There isn't a really easy way to cheat the system, and you won't hear any way here, besides not drinking. If drinking is an issue for you than there are a number of classes and support groups, AA for one, that will help you. There is support out there if you want or need it.

As for use judging you there are a few things to consider. Everyone is, whether they know it or not, judging everyone else. It is human nature. You've not given much besides that you're not supposed to drink and you did so heartily and merrily. There is no way to know if this was a custody battle and you're the alcoholic mother trying to get custody of your child, or if you've killed a person because you drunk drove and you're on probabtion right now, or that you're a heavy equipment operator in the Oil Sands. There aren't any harsh judgements besides you breaking the rules and hoping you don't get caught.

This is where this becomes a mental game for you. Is drinking and getting caught an acceptable risk? I know you didn't just drink a little, you drank two bottles of wine. That's a commitment. What do you stand to lose if you get caught? Is that lose acceptable to you. If so drink with wild abandonment, otherwise look at getting help.
