SOS - Please help me with advice...
I am 24 year old girl.On 1st of July I had protected sex with condom for the first time in my life. With my boyfriend.(and twice we did in the span of 2 hrs condom had not a tear at all) and my period had ended on 27th June earlier to that. My due date is 23rd July. However I have never got a period delay even by a day.. I have been always on time. I am already tensed up since the day I had sex. I am worried if I am pregnant. I did not take any pills or any birth control after it or befroe that. I relied totally on condom. It's the best protection as per me. I have mixed thoughts. I feel I can't be pregnant cause the condom didn't break but then now that I am a day late. Should I buy home pregnancy test or wait for few more days. After how many skipped days of period should I take the home pregnancy test.I am one day late. PLEASE ADVICE.

First Falacy... feeling you CAN'T get pregnant because he used a condom.

Fact : Condoms are effective roughly 80-83% of the time, when used correctly. Yes they can be used incorrectly. If they break its usually because they are mishandled or old. That means for every 100 women that use condoms alone every time they have sex, 17 to 20 of them might get pregnant.

Second falacy... that your period will always be regular because it might have been the few years you have had it so far.

Fact: You WILL be late from time to time, sometimes a number of days, a few might even skip an entire period, it varies greatly from woman to woman.

Condoms provide the best protection against STD's and good to use for that reason. There are a number of more effective forms of birth control, and using them WITH condoms increases the effectiveness greatly.

As to when you can test... you should wait until you are 14 days late for your period. You take a home pregnancy test in the morning, when you wake up, the very first time you pee that morning, and you only read it when the instructions tell you to. Meaning you do not read it before, and you do not read it after that time because what happens an hour or hours later means nothing, only what it reads within the time specified in the instructions.

If you forget and use the bathroom, do not take the test any other time of the day, wait until the next morning.

We can't help you know if you are pregnant. All we can do is tell you that since you had intercourse, pregnancy is a possibility. Smoothy gave you the facts; Condoms not 100% effective, periods are not always regular. Since you have been stressing for almost a month that could definitely affect your period.

So one day late is nothing. HPTs are most effective 2 weeks after your period due date. So you have another 2 weeks to wait.

Odds are low that you are pregnant, but as was said, give it a bit more time to see if your period shows up.
