I'm 49 and am having extreme difficulty with my cycle. The first issue is the time it lasts, the last couple have lasted over a month with each one getting heavier. My current one, I've been through 8 super plus and 6 pads in the first 2 hours of the day, I barely get back to the desk before I'm through both the tampon and pad and its heading for my ankles. The clots are so huge they are pushing the tampon out. Of course with this goes extreme cramping and bloat. I'm on my 3rd day at this level of flow. Is this just the prelude to menopause or do I need to see a doctor?

It could be part of entering menopause, but with that amount of bleeding it would be wise to see your doctor too rule out anything else that may be going on. There are a few situations that can cause continued and/or excessive bleeding which can require medical attention. No doubt you will be seen quickly when you explain what has been going on.

I just went thur a similar issue I'm 26yrs old and I'm on a period that has now lasted me 7 months non stop extremely heavy and massive clots I went to the er and they gave me provera to stop the bleeding!

Talk to your dr asap you may have lost too much blood which causes anemic or maybe fibroids?

I have had irregular periods since I was 15 where I wouldn't have one for a year plus then when I did it was like a year worth at once..

I hope this helps good luck
