Hello,

I have a question I hope can be answered. I live in an apartment and every time I flush the toilet it is grand does what its meant to do, but if I run a tap in the kitchen shortly after the toilet has been flushed I hear a nasty pounding noise coming from the ceiling?

Sounds like a problem with the hammer thing, I am not a plumber and will I have to contact one. Is there any dangers or is its bark worse than its bite? Or will I be swimming to the phone?

Thank you in advance.

Hold off on the plumber. This doesn't sound too serious. But we have to go with this as the process of elimination. First thing, remove the toilet lid and flush the toilet. Put your hand on the ball cock and see if it vibrates when the noise starts. Get back to me with the results and we were test farther. Any more detailed you can give me? Describe the noise. Is it a rattle? A thumping? A popping? Or a banging? Do you get noise when you shut off any faucet? Back to you, Tom

Could be PRV valve but the issue is with the landlord. Don't start on your own, you may be faced with paying for it.
