I have a 1996 Honda Accord that cuts out runs
Rough on idle and low speeds. Once going 30 miles per hour or more runs smooth. Engine Engine soon light is on. Oil is new. Plugs are new. What can it be ?

It can be time to get it coded to find out what the check engine light is on for. Take it to Auto Zone or Advance Auto and have them scan it for you. You first need to know what is causing the CEL.

. Check for codes.
. Clean or replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV).
. Set idle rpm to spec.
. Check timing with a strobe light.
. Ensure the spark plugs (NGK only) are the exact same ones that originally came in the car and are gapped to spec.
If the problem persists, the Ignition Control Module (ICM), located inside the distributor, may need replacing. Be sure to apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM. This would be the ideal time to also replace the rotor and distributor cap.
