Hi, I will be receiving a hair drug test in the next couple days, and I have a few questions. The last time I smoked was April 18(the last session before that was at least 5 months prior), today is June 25. I know the test detection time is 90 days (so I'm at day 66).The session in question was either one or two bowls split between four people containing a mix of mj and tobacco. (I can't remember exactly how many hits I had, I'd imagine around 3 or 4) Im a 19 year old male applying for a summer job at a hospital that does their own drug testing. My father is a doctor at the hospital, so it would be really embarrassing for my family if I fail this test. To date I have done a few macujo sessions, and a few applications of a detox shampoo I bought called "Omni Cleanse." If I can, I'm going to push the test till after next week (june 7th would be the test date). I have already completely shaved my body (My excuse is that I went to the beach and I wanted to look buff), and I'm debating buzzing my head to one inch the day before the test, which would be clean day number 79. I know they are going to want 1.5 inches of hair (although they did not tell me or disclose any info about the hair test to me), so is it worth it to cut my hair down to one inch? Will I pass without cutting my hair?

If detection is up to 90 days, and you're not at 90 days, it's unlikely you'll pass the test.

Detox shampoos are a waste of money, they don't work. Shaving your entire body just makes you look like you have something to hide, especially since you know they need a sample of hair for the test, so your excuse is null and void, it just screams guilt.

Will you pass? We can't say for sure. Based on what you wrote, all the things you've tried to fool the system, as an employer I wouldn't hire you just because of what you're doing to pass. Like I said, your actions scream guilt.

Ah well, it sucks, I guess I shouldn't have taken those hits. But I'd rather look guilty and be turned away rather than be tested and proven guilty. So I'm going to continue with my plan. Thanks for your input Alty, and I'll definitely keep it in mind next time I see some mj (you have successfully scared the out of me). I goofed up, but now I'm doing damage control. Any other opinions that might give me some hope?

You probably would pass except for you are looking plenty guilty by shaving like that so they may fail you based on that. As far as the testing, it is meant to show habitual use so you probably would have been ok otherwise. Who knows, you still may be ok.

Well right now my hair is longer than 1.5 inches, so your advice would be definitely don't get it cut?

I can't say for sure...but I can say that shaving off all your hair and cutting the hair on your head really short makes it look like you're hiding something. Chances are good that you will pass the test itself unless you were lying to us about the amount you have smoked.

Nah, no lie there, only I don't know whether it was one or two bowls of the mj tobacco mix. At any rate, I did not feel high, and I don't think I was taking big hits. And I misspoke, I trimmed my hair not clean shaved it.

You should be fine. Hair tests detect chronic use, they are no good for picking up rare use of anything. Don't waste your time cutting your hair.

A hair drug test is mean to show constant/consistent use over time. The small amount of marijuana you smoked most likely won't show up in a hair drug test. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

See, the way I see it, I would lose sleep, because of what the OP has done to fool the test.

I admit, these tests test for frequent use. But, if I were an employer, asking for a drug test, and my potential employee showed up with all the hair on his body shaved, so he couldn't be tested properly, I wouldn't hire him, especially since he knew how much hair was needed to test, and he shaved it down.

He may well pass the test, but the fact that he tried to fool the test, in a very obvious way, would raise enough red flags that I would look for someone else. Heck, it's tough to get a job nowadays. You don't have to take the ones that try to fool you, you have a whole list of people that will willingly take the test, pass it, without trying to fool it. So why settle for the guy that obviously did everything he could to fool the test?

You don't try to fool it if you're not guilty.

The only experience that I have with hair testing is hair from the scalp, which, I thought was the "default" hair testing location of choice, due to a relatively consistent rate of growth... I don't know that I would immediately assume a man shaving his body hair would rouse suspicion, although armpit hair... a bit unusual for a guy. I do know plenty of men that shave their legs and privates out of personal choice. Some serious bicyclists, some strippers, some like that it makes their junk look longer and who wants a mouthful of pubes? I digress... If you leave the hair on your head... I would not worry about passing due to a one time use of that little amount.

I took the test today, body trimmed, hair cut to one inch. The nurse cut the hair no problem. 80 days clean, hair one inch long. Will update with results.

Passed the test within the 90 day period, thanks for your answers.
