At 6 months it is not really good if your dog starts breeding because at this age your dog is like a kindergradener wait until your dog is 2+ years old also if your dog is a girl she will do anything not to breed last don't let your dog breed below 2- years because its not good for the dog p.s. don't let your dogs puppies run away there are already enough stray dogs in the pound

JoLo, yes, a dog should not breed until it's at least 2 years of age. But any person that is okay to breed, a registered breeder that does all the testing, only breeds the best of the best to further the breed, will not let the puppies run away. Those people spend thousands just to breed, and rarely break even when they sell their puppies. Those puppies don't end up on the streets.

It's only backyard breeders and puppymills that are irresponsible when it comes to breeding, and whose puppies end up in pet stores, in the pound, or being sold in parking lots or on eBay or other sell sites. Those people should not be breeding period! And it sounds like those are the types of people you're talking about. In which case your advice should be "Get your dog spayed or neutered. Don't breed! You're not a breeder!"

In other words, I really didn't find your advice at all helpful. In fact, it seems to be encouraging backyard breeders to breed, if they can manage not to let the puppies run away.

Really poor advice.
