OK so there is this girl in my class who I like and she makes it clear she like me back. We texted the other day for like 3 hours and she kept talking about how we really need to hang out. So I thought we were really starting something however now for the past two days she has been ignoring my text. I can see that she reads them but she never replies.I don't want to keep sending texts and look desperate but I really don't think I can wait till she texts me back. I have been checking my phone constantly. What does this mean

So what happens when you "call" her... and actually talk to her, hear her voice and discuss things for real.
What did she say, when you asked her, why she has not answered ?

This is the downside of electronic communication.
Everybody is six foot, puffed up, and bullet proof, when texting. You can say what you like, take advantage of people, be the person you want to be but aren't, lead people on, give false impressions, and when you're done having fun, just don't respond.
Learn from this. If you are interested in someone, texting should be the very last thing to do to get to know someone. To exchange phone numbers is one thing, but to think you can build some sort of relationship with only texting, is foolish.
Stop checking your phone, and hanging onto these past texts as somehow meaningful.
Leave her alone, and if she texts you, tell her that unless she can talk to you without texting, and maybe meet for coffee, you prefer not to text. And stick to it.

Stop all the texting and hang out. That's what she said, so why haven't you done it yet? How old are you both? She doesn't just want to be a text buddy.
