I replaced my 12 year old battery because it wouldn't hold a charge. I put the new battery in and the dashboard gauge reads approx. 10 volts coming out of the battery. I checked the Battery and it read 12.5 volts. I then disconnected the Blacl lead from the battery and checked the ohms from the back of the alternator to the positive side of the battery. I should have gotten a reading of 5 ohms, but the meter pegged out. I bought a new set of brake pads when I bought the battery, which haven't been installed yet. Should I return the parts I bought , I don't want the car to become a money pit. It only has 65,000 miles on it and has some rust on the frame, but otherwise runs great. What could be wrong with the car that caused the fusible link to blow?
