Cantor I believe is the 1st majority leader to lose in a primary challenge. Cantor lost because he took a stand in favor of amnesty for illegals ,and he took a hit because of Congressional over spending .

The winner is David Brat ,a political newcomer who is a college professor . Unfortunately he is a newcomer who went against the Repubic establishment and I'm sure the party will seek vengeance even against their own standard bearer for the seat . That is the typical Repubic MO . He doesn't have a large war chest .But then again ;he didn't need a big war chest to defeat the Repubic 2nd in command to Speaker Bonehead.

Can't blame the tea party... the guy who won only spent $100,000 on his campaign while Eric Cantor spent $5,000,000. The votors clearly spoke and they are clearly sick and tired of all the illegals breaking our laws and leaching off our tax dollars. And his bowing to Harry Ried the man who makes Napoleon look like a pacifist homebody.

THere isn't ONE single illegal that's NOT breaking at least one Federal law. Most break many. And most of us are sick and tired of paying overly inflated property taxes to pay to educate the demon spawn of the illegals who flood our school systems.

The bottom line is that Cantor spent the campaign season wining and dining with the K Street crowd building a huge war chest while Brat did a grass roots effort on a shoe string budget .

The funny thing is that the lib publication Salon advised the Republicans against moving to the right yesterday . They said he would win and win handily ,but that he was succumbing to the pressure from the TP's agenda .

They "advised" the Republicans that if they wanted a chance of winning ,they needed to become more like the Dems.

Next up is Mississippi where the corpse Thad Cochran is looking to be the 1st Congressman to survived in office since the 19th century. He and Haley Barbour are attacking his TP challenger Chris McDaniel in terms the Dems use.

Mimi and Obama both say amnesty had nothing to do with his loss. That RINO Peter King went right to attacking Cruz and Paul, and Dem Rep. Xavier Becerra says now is the time to ram amnesty through.

Obviously no one is listening to the voters' message.

Certainly this is excellent news for the Democrat Jack Trammel - his chances of actually winning in November have increased tremendously. Probably still a long shot for him, but he's gotta be just as pleased as everyone who's posted above.

Democrats aren't so numerous in the Old Dominions its going to be a slam dunk for the Democrat... Or Cantor wouldn't have been in office to begin with... and few republicans will vote for a democrat particularly after the LIAR that barely got elected Gov, who thinks he like Obama thinks can act unilaterally ignoring the legislature... so NO democrat here is going to look good to most people here.

Honestly . Toss a grenade into both Houses of Congress and I'll live with the collateral damage. Since we don't have term limits ,the next best thing is a primary challenge to get rid of the ones who have grown too comfortable on the job.

I am totally opposed to open primaries because they do indeed skew the results. But the district is a heavy conservative district. I buy into the argument that Cantor took a victory for granted and did not do the grunt work necessary to win. But I also believe that the message that Brat delivered resonates .....not only in the district ,but nationally also.

The mischief of the open primary reared it's ugly head in Mississippi yesterday . The cadaver Thad Cochran(he's been in DC for 42 years ) barely squeaked out a Republican primary run off for his Senate seat against tea party candidate Chris McDaniel ,by appealing to Dems who had not voted in their own party primary . Backed by the Repubic establishment ,he used every race baiting and liberal argument to appeal to Democrat voters. Let's be clear here . He lost the Republican vote decisively ,and if there was no open primary ,McDaniel would've won by a landslide .

“The time has come to take a stand and say no to the tea party. No to their obstruction. No to their disrespectful treatment of the first African-American president. If we do nothing, tea party candidate Chris McDaniel wins and causes even more problems for President Obama. With your help we can stop this. Again ,this was not an ad in support of a lib Dem like Pelosi ,this was an ad by the Republican establishment against a candidate from their own party !
It is a Pyrrhic victory for the Repubics . One has to ask how long can a party survive when it has fundamental philosophical major differences from it's base ?

Time to take the gloves off . When conservative candidate Joe Miller defeated establishment supported Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary in Alaska ;she mounted an aggressive write in campaign ,and won the election. Hopefully McDaniel does the same. Let's see if the Dems come out in support of the mummified Cochran when there is a Democrat on the ticket .
