The outside unit on my Rheem ac won't come on. After looking online, I checked the breakers, checked for any hum or noise from the unit, and checked whether the fan blades move freely. The fan won't move, so I'm hoping this is just a fan motor that needs to be replaced. I would appreciate any suggestions or help on this, as I am a single mom, and although I do have good diy skills (built a porch on my house by myself), electricity always makes me cautious. I know you have to be extra careful with the amount of power going to outside ac units, but it seems like replacing the fan motor would not be a difficult task. Does anyone have an idea how much the fan motor would cost and where I could get one? Can I do this myself or is this really something for a professional?
Thanks!

You may need to go to an Authorized Rheem distributor to get one. However, check with local AC distributors for a generic replacement. Not that hard to replace but you need to remove the case. Shut everything down at the breaker and remove the case. The fan blade removes with a set screw. Make sure to take an old motor with you to match up the HP and rotation. Should be less than $50 for one but depends on where you go.
