An "F" code is a problem with communicating with main control board. What you probably have is a dirty connection either where two wiring harnesses plug together or where the wiring harness plugs onto the circuit board. You need a can of electronic contact cleaner and a toothbrush and a soft brass brush (sometimes for bad corrosion). Look carefully where you have two wiring harnesses plugging together and where water and condensation is most likely to get into wiring and focus on those connections first. Whirlpool Duet washers have a bad corrosion problem built in to the machine, especially in the tub and pulley. The tub is made of stainless steel and the pulley is made of aluminum, so this sets up a galvanic (battery-like) reaction causing the aluminum to corrode very rapidly unless you attach a piece of sacrificial metal like zinc to corrode instead of the aluminum, as you need a more reactive metal than aluminum attached electrically to corrode. This same thing will be found on circuit boards and you should look for it, especially on ground connections. Next time avoid a front loader like the plague as they have failure built in.
