I have a Goodman heating/cooling unit model# CAPF3642C6AA. The dog chewed the low voltage control wire to the compressor in half. I did a repair of the wire with electrical tape and checked to make sure if wasn't shorting. When I switched the thermostat to cool and once it switched on the thermostat display went blank. I discovered that a 3AMP fuse on the control board in the main unit inside had burnt causing the unit not to turn on. I was thinking that there is a short in the wire and I need to replace it, but was wondering if there would something else that would cause the fuse to burn? Daniel

The cause of the blown fuse is most likely the damaged wire. Be sure to turn off the furnace power before replacing the wire to the outdoor unit.
