I just finalized my divorce and they ordered my ex to pay child support. He says he won't pay it so I need to file for an Income deduction order. Do I just file the order, then they set a court date? Do I file the order then have to serve my ex, then go to court? What forms do I need to file with the court?

The state should be helping with collections and they will file the needed paperwork for you. Contact your local DA's office.

Does he have a job? If so, a wage garnishment is the typical way child support is obtained. If, like my ex, he changes jobs frequently... then that's an entirely different ball of wax. In my state - AZ - I could file for a judgement against him, but that is no easier to collect than a child support order. Also, in AZ if he owned a home I could have a lien placed against it. Lots of work and again, collection is still not quick and/or painless.

Wage garnishment is really the ideal way, assuming he had a job...
