Okay so my dad recently called me "girlfriend" and I'm not sure if that's right... however I think I may be overacting because he only says it when we're messing about and he says it in a "Girly" "Jokey" voice... E.g: I said I'm coming round to his house and he said "Alright then girlfriend!" in a girly high pitched voice... also it's a standing joke that he tries to be "Hip" and "Cool" so I think that may be it, as he says it in the way a bestfreind would call you girlfriend... help?
Me and my dad have a really good relationship hence why i'm asking peoples opinions first as i don't want to go in like a bull in a china shop and ruin what we have
Thanks in advance

Nah, he was likely being funny about being "hip" and "cool".
Full disclosure: I'm a dad to a teenage girl. :-) We have a great relationship as well. Yes, we dads can be goofy at times.

Thank you very much for the quick reply I know you're probably right - I think I'm reading into it too much... thank you once again ;)

'and he said "Alright then girlfriend!" in a girly high pitched voice'
He's mimicking girls or gay guys, that's all.

Wow...I guess that would make me inappropriate with my daughter all the time. I always joke around with her and say things like that...doesn't mean that I mean anything by saying it. If your father hasn't done anything else to make you think otherwise, I believe you are looking into this too deeply.

If it makes you uncomfortable ask him not to do it. But I'm curious what you mean by inappropriate? Do you think your dad is coming on to you? How old are you by the way?

If you don't like it, just tell him.
But it is a joke, he is acting like others your age.

Remember, everyone. she doesn't live with her dad.
I think that can be assumed by the 'e.g. I said I'm coming around to his house.'
So some confusion about the father/daughter relationship is understandable.

No that's not exactly what I meant I know he isn't like that... and I'm old enough to now realize this was a stupid question it was late a night and I wasn't thinking... thank you for your response though, I appreciate it ;)

Thanks everyone I don't need anymore answers - I realized it was a bit of a over the top question and I as I said to someone else it was very late a night I wasn't thinking straight whatsoever, really don't know what I was thinking I know my dad's not like that at all. Anyway I've been in a bad place of late so it was the complete wrong time to ask this. I apologize I'm a grown woman so I should have known better. Thank you to anyone, if I could delete this I would... so if everyone could leave this now I'd appreciate it. Thank you very much ;)

No problem, if you want I can close the thread to prevent further answers. But we've all done something like that. The important thing is that you and your father are good.
