I'm a 21yr old female. I had a pilonidal cyst February 25, they stuck me with a needle, cut it open, and squeezed it, then packed it (so it can drain) they have me antibiotics and Percocets and they sent me on my way. Had to get the packing removed a couple days later. Today May 15, the cyst is back. I'm going to get it removed now.
Is it abnormal that it came back so soon?
Why do they come?
How can I stop getting them?
Did they not drain it all the way last time?
Is this going to happen for the rest of my life?
Please give me any information you can:(
In so much pain, I can't even walk right, sit, or sleep.

Who are 'they?' I suspect a hospital, with no MD as your regular physician? That makes a lot of difference for something as difficult as this kind of cyst.
Please read this link. I'm not suggesting that you travel to that clinic, but you need to be well informed, and maybe should look for a specialist near to you, by doing a lot of asking around.

I had one when I was 20. It drained and came back within a short time, so I ended up having it surgically removed.
Is it abnormal that it came back so soon? NO
Why do they come? IT'S AN INGROWN HAIR UNDER YOUR SKIN AND CAN EASILY BECOME REINFECTED ONCE A PUS POCKET (CYST) IS FORMED
How can I stop getting them? SURGERY IS THE ONLY SOLUTION. NOW I HAVE A SCAR THAT INTRIGUES MEDICAL PERSONNEL WHEN THEY NOTICE IT.
Did they not drain it all the way last time? PROBABLY, BUT REINFECTION IS VERY POSSIBLE
Is this going to happen for the rest of my life? YES, PROBABLY, IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT CYST SURGICALLY REMOVED
Please give me any information you can:( GOOGLE PYLONIDAL CYST, OR CHECK WEBMD OR OTHER RELIABLE MEDICAL WEB SITES.
In so much pain, I can't even walk right, sit, or sleep. NEITHER COULD I. AND I HATED TO HAVE TO LIE ON MY STOMACH!

Thanks so much. I appreciate it! And yea, I hate lying on my stomach too.
Surgery? Do they put you to sleep? How long does it take to heal?

I started having problems during the spring of my junior year in college. That summer, I had the surgery to remove the cyst. This was back in the dark ages, 1966, and I had general anesthesia, but was pain free after surgery and recovered quickly. By the fall semester, I was able to sit comfortably in class. Nowadays, the surgery might be even easier, less complicated. My college roommate, interestingly, had a pilonial cyst too and also bounced back fast after surgery. Neither of us ever had further problems.
