I have a single handle faucet on my tub and can't get very hot water, but the sinks are scalding hot

Hi PP50

Most likely, the single handle tub valve has a TEMPERATURE LIMITING DEVICE (TLD) under the handle or trim of the valve. Depending on the manufacturer, you could contact them and get the instructions on the valve and set the temperature NOT to exceed 120F (or 112-115F in Massachusetts). Some people might just suggest removing and throwing the TLD away in the trash, but since you are a "proudpapa" I have to assume that you have children and these TLDs are in place to protect them, so I would strongly recommend that you get the instructions for your valve and a thermometer and set the temperature properly.

Further, the other faucets with "scalding hot" water suggest that your hot water system needs to be adjusted down to a temperature NOT to exceed 120F for the entire home. Here, once you purchase a cheap thermometer you can determine temperature coming to the faucets and set the heating appliance to a lower temperature that is much safer for your family, OK?

Questions? Let me know, OK?
