I have a Amana Model PGD30C0702D ac unit. When I turn on the a/c the fan motor starts and the compressor starts for a few seconds than shut off. If I leave it on it will recycle. This happened when I started it for the first time this season. It was working OK at the end of last season. I didn't leave it on very long. I suspect a possible bad capacitor. Is there a running capacitor in it?

I'm sure there is a capacitor. As for capacitance, I don't know. With the compressor starting, I doubt it is the capacitor. The fact it recycles, is indicitive of a pressure switch. Could be either a high or low pressure switch but most commonly low. This presumes the unit is equipped with pressure switches.
