View Full Version : Stupid question - especially given that I know, I know andI know... ETG and tiramisu

So, I am a recovering alcoholic. I ETG test for the court 1 day a week. I self test and have those test results sent directly to the judge 2x a week in addition. I go to AA meetings regularly, have a sponsor and am happily maintaining sobriety - celebrated 8 months last week!

Today, we had a catered lunch from one of the best Italian Delis in town and I had some vegetarian lasagna, lots of salad and dessert - tiramisu. Half way into the dessert, I realized - p00p! This probably has alcohol in it... so I called the catering company and they verified it is made with "trace amounts of Kahlua".

I am aware that trace amounts of any form of alcohol, in any form, can cause a positive ETG test result, and it was NOT intentional, but still my fault. I stopped eating as soon as I realized, and probably ate a slice 1 1/2" x 3" x 2". I was going to self test today, but decided against it, because there was a chance it could come out as positive and after this long, that's the last thing I need!

Any ideas if this consumption (around 1:00pm) would have produced a positive ETG with 500 ng/mL cutoff level (around 6:00pm)? I'm really not worried about testing tomorrow, however IF today had been a mandatory testing day, just curious what the guesses are on the chances of it being positive?

TIA,
L0N

The alcohol is removed during the cooking process.

Thanks, J_9 - for some reason, I thought this was a dessert that was not cooked... or not the part with alcohol, at least... just ladyfingers soaked in Kahlua / coffee / rum or come combination thereof, layered with a whipped cream mixture, then refrigerated...

I have cooked - corned beef w/ beer - for example and not worried, because I know the alcohol cooks out of that. Thought this dessert was different, but TY!
