Blocked Delta single handle shower.

I have a Delta shower that is blocked from the valve to the shower head. I have taken the insides from the valve, cleaned all the components and replaced it with a new valve. This did not clear the problem. I then removed the valve and the shower head pipe and blew air with a compressor back down towards the valve and did not get any air flow. I do have a fourth outlet on this valve that would go to a tub. It at present has a soldered nipple blocking it. Can anyone give me suggestions on my next steps. Thanks

Hi Bob

How do you divert water from the tub to the shower...is the diverter integral to the tub/shower valve or is the diverter on the tub spout? Let me know, Ok?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply but I have solved my problem. I am only dealing with a shower valve here, the tub supply is capped. So I now know that the small deflector pipe down to the tub supply was blocked and not allowing water back up to the shower head. So to solve this problem without dismantling the whole shower unit and talking the tub supply off and clearing it out. I took a drill the same size as the supply hole and drilled into the deflector pipe, therefore bypassing the blockage. Replaced the cartridge and now everything works perfectly. So if you see this problem again, my suggestion would be before replacing the cartridge is to try to blow air either down from the shower head or up through the valve. If there is no air path and you do not want to dismantle your shower drill out this pipe. Thanks for your reply and I hope this solution can help someone else. Bob
