I wanted to see if anyone had any experience using the quikcrete walkmaker product in order to make a patio? I was thinking of using this to create a 10x16 ft patio. Also, for a patio would you use regular quickcrete or the crack resistant type? Thanks!

WOW, that's going to be a lot of Quickcrete, about 1 1/2 cubic yards. Very expensive that way in bag quantity. Have you gotten any quotes from a redimix dealer and concrete stamper?

I have not gotten any quotes, however if I use the regular quickcrete it'll be about $240 (80 lb bags at approx $3) or if I go with the crack resistant it'll be around $400. I figure that has to be cheaper than getting someone else to do it and it'll keep me busy for a few weekends, but you're right I should probably look I to getting a few quotes.

Sorry, forgot to mention the molds are 2x2 and a 80lb bag covers one mold, so 160sq ft would be 80 bags.

Its going to be cheaper and better to order the required amount by a truck... before you could mix all that the first stuff will be setting up long before you get the last mixed... and that doesn't factor in time needed to screed and trowl the finish which is critical.

YOU need rebar... mesh, gravel and forms... whole lot of work... I'd have a conrete guy give a quote and do it... thats a huge amount of work for someone that's never done it.

I'm a guy that thinls nothing of rebuilding antique cars, or remodling most of my house by myself ( to save a few bucks and I know how to do it)...but I paid a guy to do my 10 foot by 15 foot concrete base for my shed.

You only mix enough for one form at a time and work in 2x2 sections, so you do not need to mix everything at once. I've included a link to the product below. It only shows walkways, but can be used to make patios as well.

I did the country stone pattern for a small patio mixing each bag of cement in my wheelbarrow years ago. I did ten sections, one at a time. It is still intact, no cracking, and aged well. Now actually does look like country stone ! Good luck. By the way, I did no prep at all on grass.

It will make a nice patio. Put a bed of sand down to help with leveling the units to each other.

Tickle - Did you use the regular quikcrete or the crack resistant? I see sources that say the normal is fine, and some that say you MUST use the crack resistant. It would be great to get input from someone who used the product.
