Hi does anyone know why a certain company that makes laptop PCs oftern gives you 2 hard drives and what they are for...

Sorry to ask

Twin hard drive on a laptop known as (C) and (D)

Storage areas

I can't seem to get anything to go on the (D) drive evrything seems to inssist on being downloaded on the (C) drive

The D Drive is probably your recovery partition. Many manufacturers (HP, Gateway, Toshiba among others) will store an image of your drive as it came from the factory on that partition. You can then use it make recovery disks or to restore your PC to the way it came from the factory. Normally such a partion is 7-10g in size.
