I had sex with an ex while on my period on March 27,2014. I took my Nora-BE birth control pill 3-4 hours late. How concerned do I need to be about pregnancy? Also, can a doctor's office pregnancy test detect pregnancy before a home pregnancy test would?? FYI, since that night I've set an alarm on my phone where I take it same time every night. In addition I made an appointment with gynocologist to talk about longer lasting birth control. I am 35.

The pregnancy test at your doctors is a blood test which should be preferred over an HPT

Hi punkinpie9609,
Odds would be low that you are pregnant if you have been taking birth control pills for awhile, even being a few hours late with one. However, even the pill is not 100% effective. As tickle said, if you have a blood test done at the doctors, it will be able to pick up a pregnancy sooner than a urine test. Many of the home pregnancy tests will be just as sensitive as the urine test you might get at your doctor's.

There is very little chance that you could be pregnant, taking the pill only a few hours late, will have little effect. (although the pill is not 100 percent effective) remember, no birth control method, is 100 percent. So no matter what you do. There is a chance of pregnancy. Anytime you have sex.
Doctors test will show sooner,
