I'm looking for a few books I read in High School in the early to mid 90s, so the books would have been published from 1985-1995. Probably closer to 89-94.
One was your standard YA mystery. Girl moves to a smallish town in the dessert. She meets some of the local kids, all teenagers, high school students. They meet at a diner? Soon one of the teens she met (a girl I think) was murdered. She starts getting notes or calls or something, and doesn't know who to trust... one of the boys in the group, the not as attractive, more geeky/awkward one is a suspect but winks at her so suggestively she discounts him due to the blatentness of the wink. (I know, I know... ) I believe the girl was a blonde.
The second one was YA, a girl spends her summer on an island, east coast I think, with her mom's new boyfriend's family. He has two kids (I think) a girl and a boy. Shady stuff happens, maybe someone goes missing or is hurt or murdered, she suspects the would be step siblings...
And the last one might have been published a little later, maybe up until 1996. A girl moves to a town in California, meets some of the local teens, works in a movie theater, or is just there a lot. There's some earthquakes and weird 'signs.' Turns out a Mayan god or something is trying to awaken and either take back the land for the mayans (could have been aztec) or take over the girl's body along with her love interest.
