It doesn't get hot. Brand new. It takes 3 cycles to dry only a few towels. They are thoroughly spun. This is the first time I've had a gas dryer in my house gas connection has been there for 4 1/2 years but this is first time used...

Check to make sure your vent line is not plugged with lint. Pull your dryer uot from the wall, remove your flexible vent line from the connection on your dryer, then clean all of the lint that is there. If that doesn't work, you have to find where it exhausts outside, and make sure that the vent hatch is not closed or plugged. Good Luck

Right On! It is definitely an airflow problem!
One way for a quick check is to pull the dryer away from the wall, disconnect the vent from the back and run a load of clothes to see if it dries in one cycle. This is only a test run and, NO, you won't poison yourself with carbon monoxide. But you will find out if your problem is in your venting, which is almost certain.

Thanks for the help. It turns out I didn't even need the new dryer! The problem was all sorts of junk in the exhaust vent...
