I am a divorcée from Hyderabad and boy is from Goa. We insisted on register marriage in Hyderabad and later traditional wedding at the Guy's place in Goa since he is a goan but the boy's parents are insisting that as per Goan law, the marriage has to be registered before a traditional wedding in Goa as it will be easy to get the Portugal Passport for me (he already has passport). Is it true that marriage should be registered only in Goa and registration in Hyderabad will not be valid in case of legal claims of property for our kids, grandchildren in future?
What problems we will face if we perform register marriage in Hyderabad?
Please advise.
Regards,
Vindhya

Normally it all depends on what treaties may have been signed by the differing countries. Most coutries recognize marriage in the traditional fashion regaurdless of what country it has been started in. If you are already legally married in one country it is not needed to be married again in another.
That being said. What normally happens is if there is a divorce (dispute) then the country that you reside in legally normally holds jurisdiction. You would obey the laws of that country that you are a part of at the time of the dispute.

We both are from same country. The problem here is that the boy is insisting on a register marriage at his place and we are asking to be done at ours... He specifically insists on some Goan registration only whereas we are saying that marriage registration is same all over India, please advise on this.
