Hey everyone! I am a sophomore in college and of course I love to party. I party every weekend and sometimes during the week. When I do drink I end up smoking ciggs. Sometimes if I buy a pack ill just smoke one at night even if I'm not drunnk but only 1 or to a night. I started smoking last yr 2005/2006. But I was not a hard core smoker I mean I was and I wasn't... Whenever I went home for breaks and stuff I never smoked or drank AT ALL. My parents don't know and it wouldn't fly so I don't even attempt to try it. So all summer I basically went w.o ciggs. Whenever I am in school I tend to smoke. My question is how much does it take to actually be addictted? One weekend I went home from school and felt like I was having withdrawl. I couldn't sleep and I was shaking and dizzy and had dry mouth... After that I started working out and not smoking as much. BUT now I am kind of back to smoking lol... I know its weird and confusing. I have to go home tomorrow for Easter break and I can't have ciggs do you think I will have withdrawl symptoms again? And if so what should I do? The usually only happen at night because that's the only time I EVER smoke (at nite). I hope I don't need one when I'm home... I HATE that.
Suggestion? Comments?

Thank you all in advance!

Well... I ain't no doctor but I do have experience with treatments for addictions. I'll bet just about anyone in the medical field would tell you "every body's different... see your personal Dr...." with the amount of cigarettes that you've described in your "habit" I would have a hard time believing that it's a withdrawal reaction that you've experienced (unless it's maybe a psychological withdrawal). It could even be an allergic reaction, I guess. I smoke and I wish I didn't. Really haven't tried very hard to quit, though.

My advice to you is quit for good... tough out the "icky" feeling and consider yourself lucky that you had ANY negative reaction that motivated you to quit and stay a non-smoker!

Sounds like you are quasi-addicted, simply by the way you talk about cigarettes. I smoked for 15 years and although I LOVED it, I was addicted as heck and quitting was the best thing I did.

That being said, if you're going home soon and know you can smoke, nicotine gum can really help. It's what helped me quit, but it can also help fight off cravings.
