Hi Atlanta Tax Expert;

I am working on opt and as a lot of people my employer withheld ss and medicare taxes. Recently they learned tax laws that and corrected this.

My questions are,
1) When should I apply for 2007 Medicare and ss taxes. I know how to apply for 2006 and the required forms (thanks to your good explanations about issue) but I am confused about the taxed withheld after 01/01/07. Can I send an extra form 843 for 2007 medicare and ss taxes. If yes for the 2007 843 form, what will be my end date from 01/01/07 to ? (is it going to be date that I started to receive my taxes?)

2) On form 843 what should I write in box 2 (box2=amount to be refounded or abated) Only ss or ss+medicare? If only ss, where should I put my withheld medicare tax amount.

Thanks for your time.

1) Ask the employer to refund the withheld taxes for 2007. They should be able to accommodate you with no problem.

2) Put BOTH SS and Medicare taxes.
